Prayer of Thanksgiving
May the God of all creation be with you!
And also with you.
Praise in Jesus’ name!
May the Spirit move in us all!

Loving God, we gather around the table of our Christ …
oneness - with each other and with you, O God.
This is a Table of welcome, of grace,
and of covenant. This Table looks back to meals with Jesus, especially one
particular meal, just before he gave up his life. This Table looks forward to
the heavenly banquet, where the last are first and the greatest are the least.

And the Table lives … to extend the widest possible
invitation.
And so, we come to be fed!

Loving God, we pause in gratitude … “Take and eat,” he
said, “This is my body.”
As we share today’s common loaf, we
can imagine that we are part of one body in Christ. Thank you, generous God!

Loving God, we pause in gratitude … “Take and drink,” he
said, “This is a new covenant in my blood.”
As we share today’s common cup, we can
imagine that we are give life in the promise of Christ. Thank you, generous
God!

Send your Holy Spirit upon us … we pray to you, O God,
who is our Mother who loves us and
Our Father,
who art in heaven, hallow-ed be thy
name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day, our daily bread
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those that trespass
against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the
kingdom
and the power and the
glory
forever and ever,
Amen.

Invitation to the Table
In the name of the One … These are the gifts of God, for all
of the people of God.
Thanks be to God! Amen!

Prayer of Thanksgiving
May our God be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them up to the Creator of all.
Let us give thanks to God, our hope and our promise.
It is right to give God thanks and praise.

Loving God ... you have shown us marvelous signs of your presence.
Your Spirit hovered over the waters of creation and brought forth life. You journeyed with Abraham and Sarah to a new land, and fulfilled your promise in the birth of Isaac.  You went with Hagar and Ishamel when they were cast out.

You brought your people out of slavery ... You have not abandoned us.
In the shadows of time you spoke to Mary and Joseph, and invited them to share in the wondrous adventure of the birth of your son, Jesus, who became our Lord and Saviour.

While the powerful were frightened by his birth, Jesus was recognized by the shepherds and foreigners as the hope and salvation of all people.
Jesus was a baby, a child, a teenager and an adult.  He was a refugee, a teacher, a healer and a friend to all.  He bravely risked his faith.  Even when some of his closest friends were about to turn their backs on him, he gathered them close and broke bread with them.

Take and eat this bread ... We gather these prayers and we turn to you as our Mother who loves us and
Our Father,
who art in heaven, hallow-ed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day, our daily bread
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those that trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom
and the power and the glory
forever and ever,
Amen.

ISAIAH 25:6-9

MORNING HAS BROKEN (#409VU)
Morning has broken like the first morning,
blackbird has spoken like the first bird.
Praise for the singing! Praise for the morning!
Praise for them, springing fresh from the Word!

Sweet the rain's new fall sunlit from heaven,
like the first dewfall on the first grass.
Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden,
sprung in completeness where God's feet pass.

Ours is the sunlight! Ours is the morning
born of the one light Eden saw play!
Praise with elation, praise every morning,
God's recreation of the new day!

JOHN 20:1-18

REMOVING THE SHROUD

PRAYER

OPEN MY EYES (#371VU)
Open my eyes, that I may see
glimpses of truth thou hast for me;
place in my hands the wonderful key
that shall unclasp and set me free.
Silently now I wait for thee,
ready, my God, thy will to see.
Open my eyes, illumine me, Spirit divine!

Open my ears, that I may hear
voices of truth thou sendest clear;
and while the wavenotes fall on my ear,
everything false will disappear.
Silently now I wait for thee,
ready, my God, thy will to see.
Open my ears, illumine me, Spirit divine!

Open my mouth, and let me bear
gladly the warm truth everywhere;
open my heart and let me prepare
love with thy children thus to share.
Silently now I wait for thee,
ready, my God, thy will to see.
Open my heart, illumine me, Spirit divine!
